  Philosophy  
     
        Department of Oral Biology plays a role of main stake-holder in establishing the qualified dentists and dentist-relating personnel, by providing the dental work-relating knowledge on basic sciences in oral biology, ethics, moral, and social sciences.  In addition, it is the leader in establishing researchers in oral biology.  
     
  Determinations  
       
        Good basic knowledge, outstanding researches, stressing in the linkage between knowledge and clinical work, and moral motivation.  
       
  Objectives  
       
  1. To manage the educations of basic sciences in oral biology, psychology, and social sciences in order that the dental  
    learners are knowledgeable on and capable of explaining pathogenesis and setting correct dental treatment plans.  
  2. To manage the educations of researches in order that the post-graduate learners are knowledgeable on and capable of  
    performing researches to increase oral biological knowledge.  
  3. To support its academic members to conduct researches and to be the students’ research advisors.  
  4. To co-operate with the institution’s conservation and maintenance of Thai culture and academic services for the societies.  
       
  Policies of Department of Oral Biology  
       
  Main policies  
       
        Department of Oral Biology’s policies stress at the student-centered processes of education for comprehensive applications between basic medical sciences in oral biology and clinical sciences, together with strengthening the skills in thinking processes and the exploration of new knowledge.  In addition, it supports each academic member to be the students’ research advisor, to search for funds to conduct researches, and to release researches to societies.

  Policies on education  
       
  1. Promotion of establishing the dentists who are knowledgeable on basic medical sciences in oral biology combined with  
    clinical knowledge, and full of moral, ethics, and learning skills from research foundations and backgrounds for self-acquired knowledge.  
  2. Promotion of establishing the successful post-graduates who are full of moral and ethics, knowledgeable, and capable of  
    conducting oral biological researches.  
  3. Continuous support of the academic members’ potentials by continuing education and addition of research experiences.  
  4. Continuous support of the development and improvement of curricula corresponded with the dental profession’s standard  
    criterion.  
       
  Policies on research affairs  
       
  1. Support of the academic, non-academic members, and students to conduct researches, in accordance with the  
    institution’s policies on research affairs, to strengthen the institution’s research activities for education and investigation of new knowledge.  
  2. Continuous support of the research conductions, the internal and external research funds, and the research releases to  
    societies.  
       
  Policies on resource co-utilizations  
       
  1. Continuous allocations of the supportive factors for education and research activities, in accordance with the institution’s  
    policies on allocations of the supportive factors.  
  2. Support of intra- and extra-institutions’ co-utilizations of the resources for education and research activities, particularly  
    intra-institution’s co-utilizations of the resources for researches between Research Unit and Dental Hospital.    
       
  Policies on education quality assurance  
       
        Conduction of the quality assurance, by means of the institution’s approach, and adoption of the mechanisms to efficiently control and improve its missions.  
       
  Knowledge Management Policies  
       
        Promotion of adopting the knowledge management processes to educational programs, and, vice versa, supporting the projects which promote all processes of intra- and inter-departmental shares of knowledge.     
       
  Policies on academic services  
       
        Promotion and dedication of the academic services on basic medical sciences and oral biological researches, and co-operation with the institution’s academic services in Thailand’s lower northern region.  
       
  Policies on conservation and maintenance of Thai culture
